SELECT
2026-27 Season
For 5th-8th Grade Boys and Girls (U11-U14)
More than Recreation. Less than Competitive.
Just right for thousands of players.
For some families, the Recreational Program doesn't provide enough challenge, while Competitive soccer requires more time, travel, and financial commitment than they're looking for.
Select fills that gap.
Select players will train regularly with their team, compete against clubs from throughout the Willamette Valley, and receive quality coaching in an environment that prioritizes long-term development over short-term results.
It's the classic soccer experience that many families remember - community-based teams, meaningful competition, and a commitment to helping every player improve.
The Select Program is for players who:
✔ Love soccer and want to continue improving their skills.
✔ Are ready for more challenge than Recreational provides.
✔ Enjoy learning, competing, and being part of a committed team.
✔ Want quality coaching in a positive, player-centered environment.
✔ Are looking for a balanced commitment that fits alongside school, family, and other activities.
✔ Aspire to reach their full potential while having fun and building lasting friendships.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
2x week training with your team throughout the year
Above our Rec program, Select is an annual commitment, including roughly 10 weeks of programming in the fall (mid-August through end of October/beginning of November) and 10 weeks of programming in the Spring (late March through mid June).
Teams will train twice weekly within their season. Training will take place either at CFC’s complex or at other venues throughout the city of Salem.
League play in fall and spring through THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE
Teams participate in the Willamette Valley Youth Soccer League in the fall and spring. Sanctioned by Oregon Youth Soccer, the league includes teams in a small region, limiting the amount of travel required for matches while maximizing the competitive experience throughout the mid-Willamette Valley. The region will include teams from Eugene, Salem, Keizer, Stayton, Dallas, Woodburn and McMinnville.
Both the fall and spring seasons concludes with with an end-of-season culminating tournament.

FAQs
-
If your child plays multiple season of rec soccer, this may be the best spot for them if your family is not interested in the higher commitment level of competitive or academy play.
Your family should also be ready for a handful of “away” games during each season, which may involve a trip to Eugene, Woodburn, or Stayton.
-
Absolutely. Select is intentionally designed for families who want a quality soccer experience while allowing players to participate in school activities and other sports.
-
Instead of a tryout like our competitive program, teams will be formed similarly to our rec program, with consideration given to forming teams from similar areas/schools.
We will utilize coaches who typically have volunteered in our rec program in the past and rely on their input with team selection.
-
Yes. Select is part of Capital FC's player pathway. Players who continue to develop and are looking for a higher level of competition may have opportunities to move into our Competitive program.
-
There is a required package for the jerseys and then some additional items that are optional for purchase.
The required jersey kit includes home and away jersey, black short, and black sock. This will cost less than $100 and is good for 2 years.
